Winter Storm Update
Boil Water Notice
On February 17th, 2021, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required Green Valley Special Utility District public water system, PWS 09240020 to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals, or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
The public water system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water distributed by this public water system used for drinking water or human consumption purposes and has provided TCEQ with laboratory test results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling prior to use as of February 23, 2021.

Water Bill Adjustment
Green Valley Special Utility District (GVSUD) has a plan to help residential and commercial customers minimize excessive water bills associated with recent winter storms.
“Our customers are very important to us. We understand the winter storm events of last week were tough and continue to be felt throughout the GVSUD community. We hear your concerns and plan to lessen the financial strain on your next utility bill,” said Pat Allen, General Manager of Green Valley Special Utility District. "Coming on the heels of almost a year of COVID-19 difficulties, this catastrophic weather event has certainly added greatly to everyone's difficulties and pain."
We recognize the impact and hardships created by February’s unprecedented weather event and understand our customers will continue to battle its effects into the foreseeable future. We plan to make a one-time adjustment to all residential and commercial customers. This will assist or aid customers who may have higher bills due to freeze-related leaks or unusually higher usage. The details of this adjustment will be released with the bill due April 10th.

GVSUD also provides assistance and payment plans to help those struggling to pay their bills and discuss these options with the Customer Service Supervisor.
High Usage Concerns
Due to the large quantities of customer leaks that occurred during the February Winter Storm, Green Valley urges customers to check their properties for water leaks. While we will be adjusting one month’s usage on April’s bill, we want to make sure that customer leaks are repaired, if needed. The office will still be processing high usage calls and emails as normal.

TCEQ notified GVSUD that the water is safe to drink. Boiling water is no longer necessary.
Flush out automatic ice makers, make three batches of ice, discard and clean the container.
Flush cold water at each faucet for a couple of minutes, starting with the lowest level faucet at your home and working upstairs (if applicable).
Run the dishwasher, empty, through a cycle; it can be the shortest cycle. If you have a heated dry or sanitize feature, it is optimal to utilize this feature once the cycle is complete.
Run the washing marching through a cycle; it can be the shortest cycle or a cleaning/sanitizing feature if your machine has this setting.
Change your refrigerator filter and flush according to the filter manufacturer standards.
Replace your filter and flush the system according to manufacturer requirements
If you have recently had a broken pipe and you had to shut off your water this could be caused from air in the lines. If you fill a clear container (drinking glass) with water it should clear up and the air travels through the water to the surface.
If you have not recently had a leak, this may also be an indication that you have a leak and air is getting into the water lines. Check your meter to see if the leak indicator is activated or spinning.
