Why don’t I have water?

These are the most common reasons for a customer to experience water loss.

  1. There may be a water outage in your area.
  2. Inspect your home for leaks. Sometimes, the issue is as simple as checking for hidden leaks. Take a look at our “How to Check for a Leak” page.
  3. Ensure the hand valve is fully open. It is easy to overlook, especially if it has recently been adjusted.
  4. Verify that the meter box hasn’t been locked. This can happen due to unpaid bills.
Why do I have low pressure?

Experiencing low water pressure can be a real hassle. These questions can help you diagnose the issue.

  • Are you experiencing this in all areas of your home? Checking different areas can help you pinpoint if the problem is isolated to a specific fixture or part of a plumbing problem.
  • Have you noticed any leaks on your property? Even a small leak can cause a noticeable drop.
  • How long have you been experiencing low pressure? Understanding the duration can help determine whether the issue is temporary or chronic.
  • Have you recently received a water outage notification? Sometimes, scheduled maintenance or emergency repairs can affect pressure.
  • Do you have a Water Softener or Pressure-Reducing Valve (PRV)? If they are malfunctioning, equipment like these can cause dips in your water pressure.
Why is my bill so high?

Reasons for a high bill can be attributed to irrigation use, water softeners, running toilet(s) or a broken water line. Check your irrigation settings to determine the frequency of use. Check your water softener to make it sure it is not stuck in a regeneration cycle or bypass mode. Check toilets for faulty flappers or damage to the tank or bowl. To check for other water leaks please refer to the” How to Check for Leaks” tab. If you are still unable to locate the cause for the high usage, call our office for more help trouble shooting.

Does Green Valley SUD supply my trash and recycling bins?

No. GVSUD only provides water and wastewater services.

Is there a processing fee to make my payment with a credit card?

Yes. Any method of payment using a credit card or ACH online will have a third-party processing fee. Payments made for $85.00 or less will be charged $2.50. Payments made for any amount over $85.00 will be charged 2.95% of the payment amount.

To avoid a processing fee, you can pay with cash, check, money order or set up automatic bank draft.

My water tastes, looks, and smells funny. Is it safe to drink?

GVSUD’s surface water source is the Guadalupe River at Lake Dunlap. Lakes often see increased algae blooms when there is warmth and direct sunlight. Algae blooms in our lake create geosmin and MIB (2-methyl isoborneol). Geosmin and MIB are naturally occurring compounds and are not harmful, but they can give the water a musty or earthy taste and smell.

To improve the taste of the water, try chilling it, adding ice cubes, a slice of lemon, or a few drops of lemon juice. Additionally, home water filtration systems that contain carbon may help.
